Specialist and private project documentation.
Specialist Work
Some of the most interesting work we do doesn't fit a standard brief.
Over the years — across construction, conservation, and documentation work — we have worked in spaces that required something beyond a standard visit. Buildings where the history of the fabric mattered as much as its current condition. Facilities where precision was non-negotiable and discretion was assumed. Environments where getting it wrong wasn't an option.
We bring the same rigour to these projects that we bring to every commercial site visit: a clear brief, disciplined capture, and structured deliverables. The difference is the equipment we deploy, the access techniques we use, and the understanding we bring of what these environments actually require.
If your project is sensitive, significant, or simply unusual — we'd like to hear about it.
Capabilities
Precision documentation for environments that demand it.
Inaccessible and confined spaces.
We document areas that conventional methods cannot reach — roof voids, structural cavities, undercroft spaces, mechanical galleries, and confined access environments — using remote inspection platforms where human access isn't practical or safe. No scaffolding. No disruption to the building fabric.
Historic and heritage environments.
We work in buildings where the fabric is irreplaceable and where documentation requires technical precision and careful handling. This means understanding the constraints of working in sensitive environments, minimising disruption, and producing a record that conservation architects and preservation specialists can actually use.
Specialist facilities.
Some buildings have requirements — access protocols, operational sensitivities, documentation standards — that most documentation operators haven't encountered. We have, and we work accordingly.
Large and complex sites.
For sites where a single-pass survey isn't sufficient — large private estates, multi-building facilities, sites with significant exterior and interior documentation requirements — we scope the work properly before we arrive and deploy accordingly.
Our Background
Alturascope was built on a foundation of construction and built-environment experience that goes considerably beyond a standard documentation background. Our principal has worked in construction and the built environment for nearly two decades — including hands-on work in some of Britain's most significant historic properties, close collaboration with leading architects and conservation specialists, and documentation work across almost every state in the US and every Canadian province.
We work with survey-grade LiDAR, photogrammetry, and specialist inspection platforms — selecting the appropriate instrument for each environment rather than applying a single tool to every brief.
That background shapes how we approach every project. We know what to look for, what to document, and what gets missed when the operator hasn't spent time on a construction site. And we know that the most valuable documentation is the kind that's still useful five years after the visit.
Tell us about the project.
We don't run specialist work through a standard quote form. If you have a project that requires specific expertise, discretion, or capability — describe it to us. We'll tell you whether we're the right people for it.
